Windows XP Networking
Will Jones
Objectives
Introduction to the network and to explore some features of the basic network infrastructure.
Equipment List
Computer w/ XP or Vista,
LAN connection
WINSCP software with network settings
Observation. I noticed that I am not able to link to the WINSCP website from my personal Laptop. I also noticed that this work has to be accurate or your network will suffer serious problems. An In-depth knowledge of how networks run is a must in order to connect properly. Another problem that was encountered was that K-Sate does not allow anyone to transfer information wirelessly on their network.
References- WINSCP file transfer software, a computer running Windows XP or Vista, and a Lab01 handout sheet that gave us clear instructions on what to do and how to do it.
Conclusion: The first lab was intended to broaden our knowledge on basic networking using WINSCP. Most of the things I have learned during Lab 01 are new to me except for uploading files to the net. I learned that with this networking system, my personal laptop is unable to download files from the web. I needed to be connected to a LAN. The settings of the IT department do not allow for wireless ftp transfer. That did slow down the process before I figured out what the problem was.
